Mark Henderson: The Geek Manifesto: Why Science Matters (2012, Transworld Publishers)

Review of 'The Geek Manifesto: Why Science Matters' on 'LibraryThing'

Really repetitive. The first chapter presents decent arguments and the following chapters repeat them ad nauseum. There's a brief respite in the chapter on the Greens and the politicisation of science in environmental activism, but Henderson manages to say very little in so many words for most of the book.

Henry Hazlitt: Economics in One Lesson (Paperback, 1988, Three Rivers Press)

Review of 'Economics in One Lesson' on 'Goodreads'

Not so much an introduction to basic economics as a strongly-worded introduction to and argument for laissez faire economics. Doesn't reflect opposing arguments well enough to qualify as an objective introduction.
