The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy

A re-read of the start of the humorous journey of Arthur Dent, formerly of Earth, who now has to hitchhike his way across the galaxy with the help of his friend Ford Prefect and meets up with the ex-president of the galaxy, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Tricia McMillan (who left Earth earlier), and Marvin the paranoid android, in a most improbable way. He also discovers things about the Earth that he never knew earlier.

It is still an enjoyable read, and its humour pokes fun at various aspects of society (as imagined in a galactic scenario), while its various catchphrases and situations have also become part of current popular SF culture.

This version of the book includes illustrations by Chris Riddell, who stays true to the description in the text of various people and situations in his illustrations.

I really liked it. I think the memes about it made it sound more shallow than it actually is, which made me stay away from it for a while, but having read it I can confirm that it is as good as everyone says.

The book doesn't go into entirely too much detail than the movie portrays. Still an awesome story worthy if reading if you haven't, but you'll want to save your time if you've watched it already.
